Aberdeenshire

We've spend the last 3 days in north-east Scotland with relatives - Ellen and Henry Bruce. They have a beautiful house about near a small town called Turriff which we toured out from each day.

Our first day we were soaked in pretty good with bad weather but managed to go visit a local historical site called Fyvie Castle. It was a private estate which had gone through 5 families before being 'donated' to the Scotland National Trust - a hold for historical areas of the country.

Day two we drove through the highlands to Balmoral, the Queen's vacation home in scotland.

Our final day here we did a couple things closer to home. First we visited the Glenfiddich distillary in Dufftown. Apparently Jim and Kathy are supposed to be impressed by this...

We then headed north to the coast and visited a number of old fishing villages reminiscient of Newfoundland. Had a drink on the pier and took Ellen and Henry out for dinner.

We can't thank Ellen and Henry enough for their hospitality. Their interest in our trip and efforts touring us around have been outstanding; without them we wouldn't have had  such an amazing few days here.
